ABOUT US
Sugarbag Qld is an owner operated company. It is also a family business. Sugarbag Yards are actually on the road frontage of Sugarbag Station, a freehold cattle station which has been in the family for 25 years. Members of this family business are:
Brian:
Brian is a registered live exporter (licence number 575). He gained first class honours in Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) at University of Queensland, with studies in the Live Export Sector. Brian is very confident in the technology of NLIS tags and the relevant transfer procedures. He believes in keeping up with all modern technology resources the agribusiness sector has to offer.
Brian has extensive experience working livestock, including work on live export boats. He is very competent on a large range of heavy machinery, and holds a road train licence.
He is also a talented horse rider, with success in the showjumping and polocrosse fields.
Robert & Lorraine:
Robert & Lorraine have owned Sugarbag Station for close to 30 years, and before this farmed sugarcane in the Innisfail area. They have decades of experience in the cattle industry, and are always looking for new and innovative ways forward for the cattle industry. Robert has always worked cattle, and is well respected for his opinions regarding working and feeding of cattle. Lorraine manages all office affairs of the cattle station, and of Sugarbag QLD.
Rebecca:
Extensively experience in working cattle, dogs and riding horses, Rebecca has recently completed studies successfully at Marcus Oldham College in Victoria. Recipient of the Dux of the Associate Degree of Agribusiness, Rebecca has a passion for contemporary issues facing agriculture. A highlight of 2010 was the trip to the UK in which she studied wood-burning biomass plants, after winning the Yugilbar Travel Scholarship.
Rebecca is also the event manager of the new festival held on the Sugarbag Festival Grounds in mid-June.
A return to the showjumping arenas is in the not-too-distant future for Rebecca, with the recent success on the World Cup circuit in recent years a driving incentive to getting back and riding at the top level.
